This Pristine Browning Kolar Tube Set combines the Browning quality and reliability with the weight reduction of the Browning Carrier Barrels. This design utilizes the 12 Gauge standard barrels which reduce 12 gauge recoil in a shotgun that is moderately weighted and well balanced. Since adding the Kolar tubes to the standard 12 gauge Barrels would add 4-6 ounces per tube gauge and make the integrated system heavy, a carrier barrel is used to alleviate this problem.
What is a Carrier Barrel????? A carrier Barrel is a barrel that has been hollowed out to reduce weight which can be used to house the sub-gauge tubes. So, ultimately, the carrier barrels with tubes weight about the same as the 12 gauge standard barrel without tubes.
This weight standardization allows the competitive shooter to realize the same feel and swing parameters when shooting all gauges which greatly enhances the potential for success in a game that totally depends upon duplicate performance on every station every time. Ninety-nine percent of shooting skeet is iterative skill and 1% is pure luck since the targets are susceptible to wind, machine, and puller anomalies. When one miss is the determining factor, any design change that can minimize the chance for that one miss should be considered and the carrier barrel is becoming a major factor in skeet shooting where total weight and matching weight is a problem.
