Description:
This gun, serial # 57xxx, was made in 1880 and is one of the early acid etched panel variations. The earliest appear in the 41000 serial range (1878) and the latest in the 129000 (1890). The panel, "COLT FRONTIER SIX-SHOOTER" and it's borders are clearly visible on the blue background, and this is a rarety on such an early gun. Overall, the gun retains about 50-60% original finish and over 90% varnish on the one piece walnut grips. The bore is excellent and the action is crisp and tight. All numbers match including the grips. It appears to be 100% original and untouched in every respect. A very nice early Single Action Colt.
