This is a 12.12 dated pistol (December, 1937) by Nambu (Kokura Arsenal) that has matching numbers on the frame, barrel/receiver, trigger guard, trigger, bolt, and magazine release (the locking block is not numbered). The metal retains 90-92% of the original blue finish that has slight silvering along the exposed edges and muzzle; some mild freckling along the gripstraps, and some further mild freckling along the sides of the frame. Some traces of the original straw color remains on the trigger and safety with the balance turned to a bright gray patina. The grooved wooden grips are in good-very good shape with numerous small handling marks and blemishes, as well as an arsenal repaired crack on the right panel that runs vertically through the magazine release cut-out. The pistol is housed in an original dark brown leather holster that has the remnants of a yellow painted name or inventory marking on the cover flap. The leather is in very good condition with only light surface scuffs and no real flaking or other damage, except for some mild crazing on the closure tab. The pistol comes with a single, correct, uncut magazine (numbered to a different gun), and an original cleaning rod. This is a splendid pre-war Type 14 in about fine condition, and would make a nice addition to any World War II Japanese collection.
