Description:
Serial #45934, 11.7x51R, 35 3/4" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a later, Danish armory conversion to centerfire rifle with the long ladder sight, and has an overall armory bright finish that has turned to a dull gray patina over time. The markings on the left side of the receiver are still crisp, as are the tang markings. The European walnut forend and buttstock have minor handling marks and small surface blemishes in the thick, military oil finish, and the small brass stock disk on the right side of the butt has an artillery unit marking: “2AB/117". The action is tight and functions flawlessly. The rifle comes with an original ramrod, and correct sword bayonet having a 21 3/4" yataghan blade with long single fullers. The metal hilt has turned predominantly plum-brown over time, while the checkered leather grips are moderately worn, but intact. The original scabbard is included, and an artillery unit marking is present on the crossguard reverse: “3AB 2505". This is a fine example of a centerfire Danish Rolling Block with a scarce bayonet.
