Description:
Serial #344504, .44-40, 4 3/4” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a 1923-built revolver that retains 80-85% of the original blue with some fading to gray along the sides of the barrel and ejector rod housing. Additional silvering occurs along the front of the cylinder, which also has a moderate turn-ring, as well as some plum-brown fading along the grip straps. The frame retains a commensurate amount of the original color case-hardening with areas of mild surface freckling throughout. The hammer has some bright silvering along the edges and tip of the spur, while the checkered hard rubber grips are in fine shape with mild surface wear, flattening of the points, and a single small chip at the butt on the right side. A small, unobtrusive import stamp is present on the underside of the barrel, and the action is tight and fully functional. A 2015 Colt factory letter is included that confirms the configuration, and lists a ship date of August 17, 1927, to H. & D. Folsom Arms Co., New York City, as a single gun shipment. This is a great, 1920s Frontier Six-Shooter and rates very good-fine condition overall. FFL or C&R
