Antique Spanish Double Barrel Percussion Pistol
Large Bore Dated 1859 & Produced in Elgoibar Spain
Here we present an antique Spanish Double Barrel Percussion Pistol, made in 1859 in Elgoibar, the Basque Region of Spain. Not far away from Elgoibar is Eibar, which has been well-known for centuries for their arms manufacturing industry. A pistol like this would have been worn on the belt and loaded with .67 caliber ball or perhaps even buckshot, making it even more effective at very close ranges.
This piece features .67 caliber bores, fired by two hammers and two triggers. The barrels are stylishly inlaid with gold and read “FABRICA/DE ELGOIBAR/AÑO 1859”. The overall condition is very good. The inlay is still present and the iron parts are smooth and dark. The markings are clear and legible. The left hammer spur has been repaired. The stock is solid with no cracks. The smooth bores are in good condition. The action is fine. Comes with a replacement ramrod that fits well, but for the color.
This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
