GORGEOUS Antique FRENCH VELODOG Revolver
Engraved w Mother of Pearl Grips & Nickel
Here we present an antique Henrion Dassy Heuschen Velodog Revolver, made circa 1894 in Liege, Belgium. The Velodog was a French design by Charles-François Galand specifically made for carry by cyclists to defend themselves against dogs. In fact, the name “Velodog” combines the word “Velocipede” with “Dog”, which is quite interesting.
It features a small size, internal hammer, and folding trigger. This is an example of a version that was certainly at the high end of finish with nice engraving, nickel plating and mother of pearl grips. This model also features a safety lever. Various proof marks are located on the right side of the gun. The top of the frame reads “MANUFRE D’ ARMES/H.D.H. LIÉGE”. Another “HDH” is located below the cylinder on the right.
Overall condition is very fine. The markings are engraving are clear and well done. The nickel finish is nearly 100%. The grips are solid mother of pearl. The bore is fine and the action is excellent.
This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 1-3/4 inches in length.

Bore is in fine condition. The firing mechanism is excellent.
