Description:
Up for sale today is a US Springfield M1903 serial no. 57369 chambered in caliber .30-06. This excellent very early M1903 started life as a rod bayonet rifle (Model 1905) in caliber .30-03. In 1909 these rifles were rebuilt, and this rifle was among those rebuilt. It shows an excellent bore and a barrel date of “SA 5-09.” The stock shows beautiful, excellent original finish, and the metal has gracefully aged and gained an attractive patina. Comes with an original 1918-dated leather sling, and it is entirely possible that this rifle could have been one sent overseas for service in the First World War. A beautiful example of a very early M1903 and an excellent addition to any connoisseur’s collection.
