Higgins Model 101.25 .410 gauge bolt action repeating shotgun.  These were made for the Sears, Roebuck, & Company by Savage/Stevens and branded J.C. Higgins.  This example is in excellent overall condition with 90% plus of the original factory blue finish remaining.  The original American Walnut stock is also in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, repairs, or wear outside of some minor handling marks.  The 24 inch barrel has a mint bore; mirror bright with no corrosion or pitting of any kind.  The brass tubular magazine follower works perfectly with good spring pressure and the shotgun cycles dummy rounds flawlessly.  The alloy trigger guard has been touched up with gloss black paint at some point which is what it was originally finished with from the factory.  The black plastic butt plate is excellent with no cracks and is nice and tight to the stock.  This is a very nice example of this work horse .410 shotgun.  They were very popular with hunters who needed to provide meat for their families back in the 1940's thru the 1960's, and today good examples are developing quite a collector's following.      SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Manufacturer: J.C.
