Samuel Nock was the nephew and apprentice of his famous uncle, Henry Nock, who was a gun maker during the American War for Independence and the Napoleonic Wars. His inventions and firearms would be very influential for the rest of the 19th Century. This specimen is petite for concealed carry purposes in 19th Century England. Unlike much of the competition, which were single shot pistols, the pepperbox gave 6 shots of .28 caliber ball to the shooter through a revolving barrel cluster. Simultaneously in America, Ethan Allen was making these and was hugely successful. This pistol is very finely engraved on the frame, trigger guard, hammer and muzzle. It also has an engraved percussion cap trap in the pommel. The left side of the firearm is marked “SAML NOCK/116 JERMYN ST/LONDON”. Each of the barrel flutes are proof marked. The handle is very finely checkered by hand. The overall condition of the piece is fine. The flutes of the barrel retain significant gorgeous original blue. The engraving is very fine and clear. The markings are all very legible. The grip is finely checkered and in fine condition. The bores are very good. The action is mobile, but needs a little adjusting. The trigger brings the hammer the full stroke, but instead of breaking at the top, it breaks on the trigger reset. Still a lovely piece of craftsmanship. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. No other examples found for sale worldwide! Barrel is 2 inches in length. Caliber: .28 percussion The bores are in very good condition and the firing mechanism is as described above. Overall condition as seen in photos. Here is a beautiful and fine English pepperbox from one of the great names in firearms. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail!
