CUSTOM SHARPS 1878 BORCHARDT SPORTING RIFLE, .45-70 CALIBER, this is a really beautifully stocked rifle that still has some potential! Original Borchardt action and round barrel that has been cut and professionally crowned at 24", barrel retains the Sharps markings as well as the "OLD RELIABLE" logo, receiver also retains the Sharps markings, The barrel and receiver were left "in the white" and would benefit greatly from some blue! The pistol grip butt stock has an original Sharps checkered steel shotgun butt plate, pistol grip as the "panels" on the sides behind the receiver as well as the decorative schnable on the bottom of the pistol grip, all done in truly magnificent fiddleback walnut of a rich deep brown color, forend is also of matching high grade walnut with ebony forend tip and matching side panels ahead of the receiver, tight action and light trigger pull with correctly functioning safety, barrel retains the original Lawrence ladder rear sight but is fitted with a windage adjustable spirit level globe front sight matched with a long range Soule rear sight with adjustable aperture Hadley eye disc, very tight wood to metal fit and nicely oil finish on the wood, generally bright about exc. bore- anything in the bore is very minor, this should make for a fun target rifle or an exceptional hunting rifle! Weighs right at about 8 lbs and balances perfectly at the front of the action. Having a rifle like this stocked in high grade walnut like this one has would in itself cost a bundle!
