Description:
New London Arms Company Import Services

You’ve just purchased that custom shotgun from Italy; or maybe it’s Spain or England.  Perhaps it a double rifle for your trip to Africa.  Whatever your firearms purchase, New London Arms Company (NLA) is here to make your import as hassle free and cost effective as possible.  NLA is a licensed Type 08 Federal Firearms Licensee and will import your shotgun or rifle.  NLA does not import handguns.

The process of importing at times seems daunting.  NLA makes the process go effortlessly once you contact us with the necessary information more fully described below.  With your information in hand, NLA applies for all necessary permit(s) required by the ATF, Customs or other Government Agency and works with your foreign manufacturer or seller to coordinate shipment to the USA.  Obtaining import permits from a government agency while generally taking less than 60 days may often exceed 90 days.  Thus, early notification of your pending import will avoid delays when your firearm is ready to ship.

When importing your firearm into the USA, the Customs Service assesses duties generally at the rate of 2.6% (shotguns) or 3.1% (rifles) for firearms not previously imported into the USA. NLA pays applicable duty charges and can also arrange for insurance and shipping charges to be paid by us as well.  Often the manufacturer or seller overseas will arrange for insurance and freight to be invoiced/paid by the purchaser (this is generally preferred and may be more cost effective).  Among the requirements for importation is t engraving of the importers name on the firearm if not previously imported to the USA.  Arrangement for such engraving is often coordinated prior to import but if not done prior to receipt in the USA, we arrange for engraving locally prior to transfer to you.  Note that as with all firearms, prior to transfer of the firearm to you, we (or another FFL) is required to complete and obtain approval of the required background check.

NLA charges an import fee of $500 per firearm plus actual import costs.  These costs include duties, customs fees, customs bonds and may also include the previously mentioned insurance, freight and engraving.  Import fees vary with the value of the gun, duty rate and the other aforementioned costs.  Insurance is required by NLA on the declared value of the firearm(s) if not otherwise insured by the foreign shipper.  A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the NLA import fee is required to begin the processing your request.
