EXCELLENT SPRINGFIELD U.S. ARMY MODEL 1871 REMINGTON’S PATENT .50-70 CAL. RIFLE W/ BAYONET. 36” barrel with original front and rear sights. All original and complete with the original correct bayonet. Fine overall with crisp bright metal and very sharp marking. Rear sight with all the original blue-black finish. Frame stamped “EAGLE/U.S./SPRINGFIELD/1872” and “MODEL 1871”. Upper tang with Remington patent dates. Stock and forend excellent plus with a mint “ESA” (Erskin S. Allin) script U.S. Army inspector’s cartouche. Perfect working order and mint bore. Bayonet in fine condition and stamped “U.S.” on the base of the blade. Made at Springfield Armory on royalty agreement with Remington.
