Description:
RARE HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON GRADE C HAMMERLESS DAMASCUS .12 GAUGE DOUBLEGUN SERIAL #1 CIRCA 1882. 30” Damascus barrels choked Improved and Full with original 2 ¾” chambers. Made as “Heavy Duc” weighing 9 pounds. Engraved on the rib “HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON, WORCESTER, MASS. U.S.A.”. Frame engraved with maker’s name on both side in a banner cartouche. Water table engraved “ANSON & DEELEY’S/PAT. FEB. 1, 1876 NO. 1”. Excellent and all original with most of the Damascus finish on the barrels and considerable blue, grey case hardening on the frame. Floor plate with modest amounts of blue. Walnut pistol grip checkered stock and forend with the original finish in fine condition. Factory logo embossed hard rubber butt plate. Mint bores and perfect working order. Of special note-several sources including the late Norm Flayderman consider this the first American made hammerless double barrel shotgun. Serial number “1” would make this exact gun the very first American hammerless double barrel shotgun (1st of the 1st).
