The black Bakelite handles are in good condition with only light wear to them. The pommel is double waffen ampt marked. The blade is a 1940 manufactured piece and is marked, “40” on the spine. It retains virtually all the blued finish with only in/out wear. The blade is marked on one side “F. HERDER A.Sn.” and on the other with the number, “1641a”. It has no kicks, has not been sharpened and retains its factory edge and tip. The scabbard is numbered, “1641” at one side of the throat and, “F.HERDER A.Sn. – 1940 on the other, matching the number on the bayonet. There are no dents and no damage to be found on the scabbard. The leather frog looks good with the leather pliable and all stitching and rivets strong, solid, and intact.
