Description:
Bacon & Company .34 caliber single shot belt single shot percussion pistol. Gun has 6" barrel and is 10" long overall. These guns were made with 3,4,5, and 6" barrels. Approximately 400 in total produced. 4" was the most popular. How many 6"??. Rare guns. Barrels are half octagon and half round. The action on this gun is tight, works perfectly. The grips are real nice with most of the original varnish and two tiny shallow dings. Gun has crisp floral engraving, Norwich address, "cast steel" stamp, and batch number "11"on bottom barrel flat. Has brass post front site. Hammer is shotgun hammer style. Honoring 3 day inspection. buyer pays 20.00 Priority Mail shipping which includes insurance. Layaway also available. Add 3% to total cost for PayPal payments. Excerpt from “Thomas K. Bacon - The Arms and The Man” by Lowell J. Wagner: "The second most common Bacon & Company production gun was the ring-trigger pistol. This was also produced in the 3,4,5 and 6-inch barrel lengths with either scroll or horn flower engraving. As with the others, a "batch number"systcm appears to have been used: I have not found serial numbers over 125 in any of the Bacon & Company firearms. 1 have, however, found enough duplications and triplications of numbers to suggest the use oi the "batch number" or the "starting over" system. It is interesting to note that duplicate numbers often have an additional mark: a small trifoliate stamped next to the number. This suggests either a second series of numbers or a numbering error found during production with thc additional mark being applied to separate the parts for two otherwise identically numbered guns during their manufacture. If this was the case, then production could have been less than 250 guns, but probably was around 400 in total".  Also see Flayderman 7C -002.5
