Description:
Serial #9101F, 12 ga. (2 3/4"), 30" barrels choked Mod. and Full, with fine, bright bores. This is a handsome gun that has the pre-H.D. Folsom markings: “BATAVIA LEADER" on the left side; “BAKER GUN CO." on the right. The barrels have retained 97-98% of their original blue finish with some mild silvering visible at the muzzles, at the sides of the breech, and along a few of the high edges. The frame retains about 95-97% of the original bright color case-hardening with some minor fading along the edges and projections. The checkered forend is original and numbered to the gun, but the buttstock is a non-original replacement that has a length of pull that measures 15 1/4" to a period red rubber recoil pad. The wood has small surface blemishes and handling marks throughout and there are some slight gaps in the inletting around the sidelock plates. Despite the long pull, the gun is still comfortable for a shooter with average length arms and the exceptionally high degree of original finish remaining on the metal makes this a great candidate for restoration.
