Description:
Serial #476008, 6.5mm Swedish, 24” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a 1919 dated, rifle, converted to 1938 Short Rifle specs, and retains 85-90% of the original blue finish on the metal with mild fading along the exposed edges as well as on the sides at the threaded muzzle, and on the trigger guard/floorplate assembly. The numbers are all matching, including the bolt components and buttplate, however the cleaning rod is unnumbered. The front sight is a high target blade, and an import stamp is present on the underside of the barrel. The stock is in fine overall condition with only minor handling marks and surface blemishes scattered about the varnish finish. The stock disk lists the gun as an arsenal condition “2” with nominal bore diameter of 6.5mm exactly, and the metal rifle grenade range table has been removed from the right side of the stock. A period leather sling is installed, as is a removable flash-hider at the muzzle. This is a fine example of an M/96 Swedish Mauser, converted to the later short configuration, and would make a great addition to a collection. FFL or C&R
