Description:
Serial #69967, .44 caliber percussion, 8” octagon barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a handsome revolver that has managed to retain 75-80% of the original bright blue with the balance turned to a smooth, lightly freckled plum-brown patina that follows the forging lines on the sides of the frame. The cylinder has a dull pewter gray patina with some bright silvering along the high edges and projections, as well as on the sides of the safety notches. The cylinder itself has some mild gray fading in spots, and there is a bright turn-ring at the rear. The brass trigger guard has a bright yellow-ochre patina and the walnut grips are in very good-fine condition with scattered small handling marks and surface blemishes, and a small chip at the top of both panels. The government cartouche is still fairly crisp on the left side. The mechanism is tight and functions flawlessly. This is a fantastic Civil War revolver with a high degree of original finish remaining, and is in fine-excellent condition overall. Antique
