Springfield Model 1884 U.S. Trapdoor Carbine 16-97
 
Springfield Model 1884 U.S. Trapdoor Carbine barrel length 22”. Blue finish with casehardened breechblock and tang. Serial number in 300000 to 500000 range this one is serial #450024 lock markings of eagle and US/SPRINGFIELD forward of hammer. Breechblock markings US/MODEL/1873, but wrong serial number for 1873 model (see Flayderman for explanation of model designations). A feature of the model 1884 is long range rear sight; leaf style adjustable for windage and elevation, marked “C” on side.
 
Condition: Fine. Bore is shiny with all of the rifling looks unused, lock has 75%-80% blue with nice bright patina and a little corrosion at the end of lock. BBL is brown/silver with nice patina. Butt plate and trigger guard 40% blue. Stock has been varnished and has some dents, dings and scratches but overall VG/FINE. Just a great carbine is FINE condition with a minty bore. Hard to find like this. (16-97) $2,200.00
