Description:
Thi Krag Sporter started Life as an 1898 Krag Carbine but previously has been converted to a sporting rifle with better sights, sling, etc. Bore is very good plus and chamber is excellent. Rear sight has been replaced with a Redfield receiver sight and front sight is now a banded sporting ramp with blade. Barrel length is 22.5 inches. After both world wars there was a shortage of sporting rifles for hunting. Various gunsmiths of the time lessened the problem by customizing various military rifles such as the Krag, Springfield, Enfield, etc. There were even books in pamphlet form advising the do it your selfer how to do it and where to get the parts - stocks, sights, swivels, etc. This is probably one such conversion. In any case the rifle mounts nicely and sporting stock is well done. Nice leather military style sling. A nice rifle in a great old caliber suitable for any North American Big Game.
