Description:
A.H. Fox 16 Gauge Side-by-Side
FACTORY ORDER “SPECIAL EJECTOR” GRADE, ENGLISH GRIP, HIGH FIGURE WOOD!

General Specs: Fox, Year 1915, 16 Gauge, 6lbs 3oz, SxS
Serial Number: 300592

I have the privilege of making my life’s work all about treasure hunting for the best guns available, and once in a while I come up with something different, like this factory documented “SPECIAL EJECTOR” GRADE Fox.  We have included a copy of the factory order card so you can see the details on how this gun was ordered and how it defied the A.H. Fox factory grading system as described in their catalogs of the day.  It is well known that most of the American gun makers would produce a gun per the customer’s detailed instructions, and in the Fox world, these became known as “SPECIALS”.  This beautiful Philly Fox, sn300592 made in 1915, is one of them.  What makes it special you might ask?  Quite simply, the client wanted special attention to the quality of wood, with “nice wood” specified and what he got was distinctly the CE Grade checkering pattern with figure that would be exceptional even for a CE Grade gun.  He also specified balance point and trigger pulls, stock dimensions, etc., which he got as part of the gun.  Please note the gun was shipped with a factory ordered Silvers pad that was rock hard and mushroomed and was a total of only ¾” thick.  We replaced the old pad with a genuine Silvers pad and left it full thickness to get a longer LOP.  What the gun equates to is an AE Grade engraving pattern, with much nicer engraving on the screw heads, and a highly-figured CE Grade stock made up in a rare straight grip configuration.  It is likely the purchaser knew someone at the factory and was able to pay for an AE engraved gun with gorgeous wood at AE Grade pricing.  In today’s world most know that an original fine-condition CE Grade 16ga. with a factory English grip would exceed $14,000 in cost.  Most collectors place high value on special order guns with clear factory documentation and desirable features.  Shooter/collectors love factory original highly figured wood.  This gun will please its next owner with its 6lb. weight, perfect balance, fine shooting dimensions, and can be bought for far less than the Fox CE that it resembles.  What a unique, factory original gun with lots of factory condition and the best features of the small-bore Philly Fox guns.  Don’t let it get by you as it should sell quickly at this price.  Thanks for looking.
