Description:
Winchester Model 1886 Deluxe .45-70 Government. A very nice Deluxe 1886 rifle that features a 24" 1/2 octagon and 1/2 round barrel; 1/2 magazine tube; front blade sight and two leaf, one folding; rear sight; top tang is "not" drilled for a tang peep sight. Deluxe grade, checkered pistol grip, walnut butt stock with grip cap and shotgun checkered metal butt-plate; checkered forend wood with metal cap. Rifle weighs 8 lbs. and trigger to butt-plate measures 13" length of pull. The rifles condition is good to very good overall with good original barrel and receiver blue, though fading along edges, near chamber and receiver bottom. The lever has a slight hint of case color remaining at the top near the protected area next to the receiver. The stocks are in good to very good condition with very good checkering and good remaining original varnish finish but some small scratches here and there. There is a small chip out of the front top left side of the forend. The bore's rifling is in very good condition, very shiny with very good lands and grooves, though there is some very faint surface corrosion near the chamber. Very nice rifle for well over 100 years old. It was manufactured in 1906. S# 141600 A. There are a total of 14 photographs, which all can be seen on Cabela's Gun Library .
