SPANISH Percussion Belt Pistol with MASSIVE Bore
1867 Dated Conversion from Flintlock to Percussion
Here we present an antique Percussion Pistol, made as a flintlock in Spain during the early 1800s, then converted to percussion, circa 1867. This pistol is very likely much older than the 1867 date on the barrel. Its mechanism is that featured on flintlocks in the century prior. It was made to hang on the belt in an open carry fashion. Someone expecting trouble like a soldier, policeman or perhaps a sailor might have worn this pistol. What is curious is that even in 1867 the percussion firing system was considered obsolete in much of the world.
The hammer is interestingly shaped like a sitting dog or other creature.
This specimen is in very good condition. The metal is bright. The stock is solid. The bore is smooth and in good condition. The action is fine.
