Description:
4" First Generation Colt Trooper chambered in .38 Special. The serial number dates production to 1965. This is another 100% complete Trooper package that includes the original serial number matching box and test target, warranty card, sight adjustment tool (still in the paper envelope) and ”Handling the Handgun" brochure from Colt. The original blue finish and over all condition is exceptional and rates 99%+. The action is crisp, lock up is tight, bore is clean and the grips are like new. There is a VERY slight turn line on the cylinder. The condition of the cylinder face, recoil shield and forcing cone appear to indicate the gun is indeed unfired since leaving the Colt factory. I usually don't like to use the term "New In Box" to describe a 52 year old gun, but this gun comes darn close. The “SCPDR” stamping on the butt frame may indicate a department gift to a retiring police officer. I have seen other examples like this that were issued by the Suffolk County Police Department in New York State. A Colt factory archive letter would confirm who the gun was originally shipped to.
