Description:
For sale, a Colt Government Model 1911 70 Series Mark IV pistol in 9mm with the original box, registration card, and extra magazine. This 1911 model is quite scarce compared to the pistols chambered in .45 ACP, and finding one this nice with the original box is quite a find. This 9mm 1911 is in excellent condition and appears to have been fired very little if at all since it left the factory. It was manufactured in 1971 making it a very early 70 Series gun. The original Colt factory high polish blue finish rates 97% plus with the slide having a purplish hue common to this vintage Colt. There are a few very small areas that show handling wear or otherwise, one being the right side of the trigger where it was marred from the addition of a trigger shoe. This particular collector installed trigger shoes on all of his pistols and never shot them! There are two very small scuffs on the front grip strap and there is a scuff on the right side of the matte finished housing containing the plunger below the barrel. Neither of these take away from the overall attractive appearance of this Colt. The factory un-checkered wooden grips look great, and the inset Colt medallions are clean and tight in both sides. The bore is excellent in this 9mm 1911; it is mirror bright with strong rifling that shows neither any corrosion or evidence of being fired. Everything works 100% like the day it left the factory. This Colt 70 Series 9mm comes with the original factory box complete with the original label serial numbered to the gun. Also included is the extra factory magazine and the warranty card that was never filled out. The box is in excellent condition overall with good corners that have never been torn and/or repaired. This pistol would be a great addition to any Colt or 1911 collection!
