Description:
US Springfield 45-70 Cadet rifle is listed for sale. It is marked 1878 on the breech block and is serial number 208021. It has the 29 1/2 in barrel with an overall length of 48.92 inches. The width is about 1.50 inches at the butt. It is marked with the Eagle and U.S. Springfield on the sidelock. The stock is original with minor dings and scratches with no cracks. The barrel has some very minor pitting with good lands and groves. The gun shows its age with most of the metal being an antique brown with some very minor pitting in areas. It has a readable cartouche for Samuel W. Porter with the date of 1890.
