Description:
Made in 1941, this Savage 99EG in 300 Savage caliber remains in nice "hunter Grade" condition. We've maintained this is one of the prettiest iterations of the Model 99. Light handling arks and thinning blue in the expected areas, but mechanically well-cared-for and...you guessed it: Hasn't been shot much! Bore looks mint, crisp and shiny. Wood is crack free and in surprisingly nice shape with great checkering. Case colors vibrant on protected areas of the lever, darkening on the outside. Looks like it had a side-mount sight at one point, note the three filler screws on LH side. Early Leupold has the adjustments in the scope base; a neat system, and period correct for the rifle. Optics are clear and nice: tapered vertical post reticle, with fine horizontal cross hair, and retains the vintage Leupold rubber lens caps. Barrel sights have been removed. Notice the Winchester Super Grade sling swivels? Has beautifully-made swivel studs, in the Niedner style. Front stud relaces the fore-end screw, so there's no extra hole in the front wood. Sling swivels appear redone, but nicely so. Balance of the rifle finish appears original. 24" barrel, 13" pull, matching numbers on fore end, buttstock, buttplate. Add a sling and take it hunting!
