#453A BALLARD #6 SCHUETZEN RIFLE, 38-55, engraved with a running deer on left side & running buffalo on right, surrounded by a floral design, action is marked "J.M. Marlin New Haven Ct. USA Ballard's Patent Nov. 5 1861", checkered cheek rest Schuetzen stock with nickeled brass Schuetzen buttplate, short nickeled forend as was the style with the Milw. Schuetzen shooters, wooden tipped palm rest, DST, Schuetzen spur lever, Ballard vernier tang sight, aperture vernier windage front sight, 32" heavy part oct. bbl., 1 1/4" across flats at breech end, bbl. numbered to gun, 90% bbl. blue is thinning & turning brown patina, action is mostly bright, no casehardening but engraving is sharp & vivid, hasn't been touched, exc. wood & bore.
