Description:
Baker Paragon grade 12ga.Built in 1896,this gun is in outstanding original condtiion. It has 28" fine damascus barrels with mint bores. The barrels both measure .720" bore diametern and are choked full (.030") and full (.030").The wall thickness averages over .032" so the gun is safe to shoot with standard loads. The barrels are on face and lock up with no play. The barrels retain 98% of the original damascus finish and are free of any rust or dents. The reciever retains around 50% of the original case colors as shown in the photos. The engraving is highly detailed and features two pointers, two setters,a quail on the floorplate, and a duck on the triggerguard. The wood is sound with no cracks or damage, just a few light handling marks. The grip cap is nicely contoured and apprears to be made of horn. The buttplate has the Baker logo and is in mint condition. The Paragon was a completely custom gun for each customer so no two are indentical.Only around 1300 were built. This is the finest example of one that I have seen.A real peice of sporting history in collectable condition. It would also be a great gun for vintage clays shoots or the occasional dove or pheasant shoot.Classified as an antique.
