LC Smith Field Grade 12 Gauge
Another LC Smith from our local collector’s hoard. This 12 gauge is a Field Grade gun. It bears serial S41653. It was manufactured circa1921. It has very strong color case remaining on the receiver and the side plates. This gun has a very tight action, with top lever still hard to right. There is no looseness or slop to be found. The 28-inch Armor Steel barrels have gone to a very pleasant brown and are very smooth, possibly an old cold blue attempt. The barrels are in standard factory chokes of full and modified. Again there is no surface pitting. The solid steel rib has a bump or bruise approximately 12 inches north of the breech which could be taken out with a competent filing. Bores are perfect with one very small blemish in the left side chamber wall but not enough to be an issue shooting. The gun has extractors. The butt stock has been gone over, recommend removal of white spacer. Barrels retain no original finish, overall 50% gun.
