Description:
New Model Sharps Model 1859 Saddle Ring Carbine 17-37

Approximately 36,000 Sharps New Model 1859 carbines were manufactured during the Civil War. This example is standard in all respects. The barrel has the Hartford address and is stamped “New Model 1863”. The Lawrence folding ladder rear sight has 1859 patent date. Right sideplate has 1852 and 1859 patent dates. Left side of frame has the 1848 patent date. Features a two piece walnut stock and single barrel band. Has the outline of the stock cartouche. All legends are readable. All metal surfaces are a soft patina. Left side has the original saddle ring and bar. The primer feed mechanism is intact and still works. Stock is very good with usual wear dings, scratches, etc. And has some dents on the left side and a carved “X” on the right side of the Buttstock. But is otherwise very good. Excellent rifled bore with at least 95%-97% of the rifling. This  Sharps would make an excellent shooter. A very good/fine, all original, Sharps Civil War Saddle Ring Carbine that would be a good gun for shooter/collector.
 (17-37) $2,050.00
