Description:
SN 11859/ 11860. (1884) Cal. 12 ga. 2-1/2″ Chambers. 28″ Dovetailed bbls with slightly swamped game ribs and hidden bbl extensions. Guns are engraved “1” or “2” on rear portions of ribs. Stamped with Birmingham nitro proofs for 2-1/2″ chambers and “SLEEVED”. Coin finished sidelock actions feature non-automatic safeties, engraved arrowhead tumbler end cocking indicators, and dbl triggers (fronts articulated). Actions and locks are engraved with 80% coverage Purdey house style rose and scroll. Scroll engraved trigger guards have SNs on tangs. Fairly well matched European walnut straight grip buttstocks measure 15-1/8″ over red Decelerator pads, and feature standard checkering and vacant silver ovals. Matching splinter forends have Anson releases.

Gun “1” 11859: Bore diameter: left -.731, right – .730. Bore restrictions: left – .005 (IC), right – .022 (mod). Wall thickness: left – .022, right – .030. Drop at heel: 2-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-11/16″. Weight: 6 lbs. 12 oz. LOP: 15-1/8″.
Gun “2” 11860: Bore diameter: left -.727, right – .727. Bore restrictions: left – .009 (IC), right – .022 (mod). Wall thickness: left – .036, right – .036. Drop at heel: 2-9/16″, drop at comb: 1-7/8″. Weight: 6 lbs. 15 oz. LOP: 15-1/8″.

CONDITION: Good, as refurbished. Bbls retain nearly all of a British black probably applied at time of proof. Actions are coin finished, engraving considerably thinned with areas picked up. Stocks are sound with glossy finish, and re-cut checkering, metal somewhat proud of wood. Forend wood of gun “2” is a well done replacement. Bores are excellent.  Gun “1” is slightly loose and off-face. Top lever spring is weak. Feels tight with top lever pushed all the way to the left and forend installed. Gun “2” is tight and on face.
Case leather is dark with many bumps, nicks, and scratches. Straps and handle are new. Interior cloth is new. L Case contains a 2-pc ebonized wood and brass cleaning rod, and a pair of aluminum snap caps.
