Description:
#17056, Westley Richards & Co. England: A Hand Detachable Modele de Luxe Ejector (Droplock) 12 Bore Completed in August of 1912 with Rib Extension Third Bite. In 1984 this gun was at Westley and so lettered with a new set of barrels and I presume completely restocked as it has wood like new. It also has fresh case colors and it absolutely appears like the colors of St. Ledger in England. Hinged cover plate, 28" Ejector Dovetail Lump barrels proved at 3 1/4 tons and 2 3/4" chambers, The bores at .728 .011 & .014" (Imp.Cyl. & Skt.II), 2 3/4" chambers, Wall thickness both left & right at .036", These barrels #19674 were installed by Westley Richards in February of 1984 and so lettered by them, Rounded action body, Original factory Single selective trigger, Scalloped action back, Splinter forend with a Deeley & Edge release, Straight hand stock at 14 7/16 x 1 5/8 x 2 5/8" over a removable 1/2" leather pad, It will go 14 15/16" with a 1" pad installed, Very slight cast-off, Very nice game gun weight of 6 lbs. 13 oz., 96% coverage of neat floral engraving with African game birds on both sides and a Pheasant on the cover plate, Nice wood with very nice color and contrast, 100% case colors, The barrel black is at 99.5%, The wood finish remains at 99%, The checkering remains at 100%, The barrels inside and out look like the day they left Westley in 1984, The barrel striking is excellent and they have a very pronounced chime. Here is a Droplock Westley that nearly qualifies like new and remains in exceptional condition for a piece that was completely restored and has a virtual brand new set of barrels.
