Payment Types Accepted: Money Order, Personal or Bank Check Description: Rare martial marked Colt model 1861 round barrel Navy revolver. This revolver is in very good condition overall. Early serial #6272 is matching, including wedge, early 1862 manufacture. Only several hundred of these were bought by the U.S. government. This one is fully sub-inspected on all major metal components, to include an initial "L" on the bottom of the right grip panel, two on the cylinder, as well as the top of the backstrap. The letter "S" appears on the grip strap just behind the trigger guard. An "O" is present on the left side of the barrel above the wedge. All sub-inspection marks are bold and clear as is the barrel address and other markings. The cylinder scene is light as is the case with most war period '61 Navys. The metal overall is a light brown-grey patina. The brass has a wonderful untouched patina. The action is tight. The grips have a wonderful age handling look, visible government cartouche on right grip. A very scarce gun being U.S. military issued. See what our good friend Dave Taylor has to say about these Colts "One of THE rarest of Colt’s is a martial 61 round-barrel. Also known as the 1861 Navy, They are beyond scarce". SOLD Antique: Yes |
