Description:
Rare engraved Lindsay 2-shot percussion pistol. .41 caliber, serial #1234. 4" octagon barrel, with the bottom flat marked "PATENT'D FEB. 8, 1859 / PATENT'D OCT. 9, 1860". Barrel is a mottled grey. The right side of the barrel bears a very clear, full manufacturer's marking with scroll engraving. The left side of barrel is engraved as well, dark spotted patina. The left side of the brass frame is engraved with a stag, and a dog is engraved on the right. The brass has a wonderful aged, untouched patina. Mechanics are very good. Two-piece walnut grips exhibit age handling wear. Overall condition is very good+. A rare and unusual pistol invented by John P. Lindsay and manufactured in the early 1860's in limited quantities.
