L. C. Smith,   double barrel shotgun,   Model 2E,   12 gauge,   s/n 200841,   according to Hunter Arms Company manufacturing records the total production of Number 2's in all grades from 1890-1914 was 12,483,   this #2 gun was finished on April 29, 1903 and inspected by Wilson Tottey,   total production of #2's in 1903 was 611 with very few having automatic ejectors,

RECEIVER:   mechanically fine,   locks up tight as a drum,   double triggers,   AUTOMATIC EJECTORS,   sideplates,   interior locking crossbolt,  lockplate is HAND ENGRAVED with scroll and a quail in a circle on the left lockplate and a duck on the water in a circle on the right side,   "L. C. SMITH" engraved on each lockplate,   also tastefully engraved in various locations on the frame, top lever, and forend iron,   traces of original case coloring remain over entire receiver, 

BARRELS:   CROWN FLUID STEEL,   30" length,   choked Full & Full,   AUTOMATIC EJECTORS (ONLY 3,582 OF THE TOTAL PRODUCTION BETWEEN THE YEARS OF OF 12 GAUGE #2'S WITH 30" BARRELS HAD AUTOMATIC EJECTORS),   barrels retain virtually all of original blue finish with normal minor handling marks,   Ivory bead front sight,  finely hand filed raised rib,   BRIGHT SHINY PERFECT BORES WITH NO DENTS OR PITING,  

STOCK:   English Walnut,   scant pistol grip with grip cap,   splinter forend featuring Ebony tip,   PERFECT FINE CHECKERING ON PISTOL GRIP AND FOREND,    14 3/4" LOP over period-style solid recoil pad,    DAC 1 1/2",   DAH 3",   THERE ARE NO CRACKS BEHIND LOCKPLATES AS IS TYPICAL OF MANY, IF NOT MOST, L. C.'s,     finish on buttstock and forend perfectly restored by professional stock refinisher,
