Description:
Serial #463726, .30-40 U.S., 30" barrel with a very good bore that has some light freckling and mild pitting within the grooves. This is a very nice rifle that has retained 80-85% of the original blue finish that has mixed with an even plum-brown freckling along the barrel and faded to gray at the muzzle, along the rounded portion of the receiver, edges of the magazine door, and along the high edges and bearing surfaces. The bolt has an overall dull pewter gray patina mixing with areas of bright metal and the extractor has about 75% of the original fire blue remaining with the balance turned a pale gray. The rifle is outfitted with a Model 1902 rear sight. The walnut stock and handguard are in good condition and have a few minor handling marks and small blemishes scattered about the original oil finish as well as a still crisp “JSA/1903" cartouche on the left side of the wrist. The steel buttplate has some traces of the original blue remaining with the balance turned to a lightly freckled gray-brown patina with some small impact marks scattered around the edge, and both a nickel steel oiler and bore lanyard are present in the stock compartment. This is a very nice example of a late U.S. Krag-Jorgensen in very good condition and would make a great addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
