About Us: Joe Salter has been in the Antique and Collector Weapons business for 60 years as both a collector and dealer. Description:
NSN, .54 caliber, 8 1/2" barrel with a very good, lightly freckled bore. The barrel and “US/H. ASTON", 1849 dated lock have an overall cleaned gray patina with light-moderate pitting and freckling along the barrel, heaviest at the breech and on the nipple bolster, while small areas of fairly bright metal are present along the edges and smooth portions of the metal. The brass furniture was cleaned in the past as well, but has since developed a darker yellow-ochre patina throughout. The walnut stock is in very good condition with an added military oil finish over numerous minor handling marks and scratches and some moderate wear surrounding the bolster. The cartouches are still clear and legible with some short, with-the-grain cracks at the rear of the sideplate, and the original ramrod is still present. The lock is still tight and fully functional and the pistol rates good plus-very good overall. Antique
