What a rare bird this one is. According to published records during a short period between 1939 and 1940 Mauser ran out of wooden grips. I suspect the Nazi procurement office "RZM" ordered Kreighoff to send a quantity of their brown plastic to be delivered to the Mauser factory. These original Kreighoff grips are quite scarce, certainly more so the infamous Black Widow.
The pistol retains about 96-97% of the original factory blue. Close examination shows that the bulk of the loss is the usual muzzle, side plate and sharp edges due to holster wear. There is a few scattered pinpricks on the edges and some minor flaking on the left side plate. The right side of the slide is stamped, Eagle/63, Eagle/53, Drooping Eagle
The barrel has two small surface nicks. The barrel is stamped Drooping Eagle.
The brown plastic Kreighoff grips do have some small areas of flattened points and a nick or two on the edges but there are no splits chips anywhere. The grips straps which will be first to show use have not started to gray. The grip screws are perfect.
All numbered parts of the gun match. The bore is super bright, with sharp crisp rifling and just a slightest touch of frost.
The gun comes with one correct magazine not numbered to gun.
It is really something to have for "show and tell with your friends of some real fun at the range.......$2895. OBO
