WALTHER MOD 2. SN 42303. Cal. 22 LR. 24-1/2" sporter bbl with ramp front sight and triangular insert, 200M tangent rear sight. Unique semi auto receiver with manual single shot override is marked with maker's banner, mounted with period Carl Zeiss scope in see-through adjustable tip-off rings. Military style safety, 5 rnd detachable mag. Sporter style walnut stock with FACTORY grooved forestock and checkered semi pistol grip, Walther marked hard rubber buttplate. Factory sling swivels. PROVENANCE: The Esteemed Collection Of Noted Expert And Author Warren Buxton. CONDITION: Good to very good. Bbl and rec retain about 75-80% blue finish with light to moderate scattered pitting and handling marks throughout. Wood shows numerous light to moderate handing marks from usage. Buttplate is good. Mechanics are crisp. Bore needs cleaning. Optics clear. C&R. I have also included a fascinating modern copy of a 16-PAGE BROCHURE/user manual DATED 1936 detailing complete instructions on the technical data, proper use, and maintenance of this amazing rifle. Based on my research, this rifle was the second-most expensive .22 rifle of the 7 different models offered in the years leading up to WWII, surpassed in cost only by the single-shot Olympic Master Rifle.
