SCARCE CIVIL WAR REMINGTON U.S. MARTIAL .36 CAL. OLD MODEL 1861 ARMY-NAVY REVOLVER CA. 1862. About 5000 made for the U.S. Army in 1861 with the Civil War pending. Extra, nice all matching (19xxx range) and completely U.S. Ordnance inspected example. Barrel addressed “PATENTED DEC. 17. 1861/MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTONS ILION. N.Y.”. Excellent with 50-60% blue mixed with dark patina. Very crisp example showing only modest use. Superb grips with all the original finish and excellent inspector’s cartouche at the base of the left flat. Perfect working order an excellent bore and chambers. Quite scarce in this nice condition as all were issued during the Civil War. Very old collection provenance and has not been on the market in four decades.
