IRISH Antique “Gilroy” of DUBLIN Flintlock Pistol
Beautifully Engraved Pistol from Ireland Circa 1800
Here we present an antique Gilroy Flintlock Pistol, made in Dublin, circa 1800. This pistol was designed for early 19th Century self-defense. This pistol would have been worn on the belt. It was small enough to not become a nuisance, but large enough to make big holes.
This specimen is marked “DUBLIN” on the top of the barrel. The lock is also marked “GILROY”. The lock is elegantly engraved. The walnut stock enjoys particularly nice grain. The ramrod is tipped with horn.
The overall condition is very good. The metal parts remain shiny. The markings are clear and legible. The walnut stock is beautiful in grain. It does have a repair ahead of the lock, a crack running from the muzzle down the ramrod channel, and one opposite the lock on the left side. The bore is smooth and in near fine condition. The action is strong.
