Description:
This is a Brevette  of the famous Colt Walker.  It is completely handmade and such guns have developed a collectable status on their own. Nobody knows how many of these were ever made and when. Some say there were makers in Texas, Mexico and even Iowa. To me it brings to mind questions like: Was this blacksmith/gunsmith made to fill a need for more armament in hostel country 150 years ago?  In any case it is a wonderful and desirable work of folk art and that alone gives it collector value. Once the most powerful handgun in the world, these impressive revolvers weigh in at 4 pounds, 9 ounces. The Walker features a six-shot cylinder, one-piece walnut grips, a 9-inch part round/ part octagonal barrel with loading lever, frame and hammer. This one is Serial numbered 212 and marked "B  CO  202" on the right side of the frame. Above the wedge it is marked "US 1847".  It is .44 caliber with a rifled barrel.  It has a dark brown patina throughout. It does index but is hesitant some times.  It is likely a contemporary of the original Colt Walker and would be perfect addition to vintage Colt collection without selling the farm to afford it.
