Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: For sale, an absolutely beautiful U.S. Army Colt Model 1917 in exceptional condition. The WW1 designed Colt Model 1917 revolver was chambered in .45 ACP and was designed to be fired single or double action using full or half moon clips out of a 5 1/2 inch barrel. It was a very well received sidearm for the U.S. Serviceman who wanted a tough and reliable handgun chambered for the man-stopping .45 ACP cartridge. Both Colt and Smith & Wesson received contracts for their manufacture, and they were produced from 1918 to 1920. The U.S. Model 1917 revolver went on to serve all of the U.S. military branches from WW1 thru WW2 in a number of capacities. This particular Model 1917 was manufactured by Colt and was based off of their "New Service" Model. It retains 98%+ of the original Colt factory military blue finish and looks phenomenal. All of the different polishing and grinding lines from the Colt factory are still prominent, and all of the U.S. Army acceptance and property stampings are clean and sharp. Other than some very small handling/storage marks it shows no signs of being carried or fired. Both the front and rear grip straps are perfect, the blue finish looks like it did the day it left the factory. The bore is bright and in mint condition. The rifling has prominent and sharp lands and grooves and there is no pitting or erosion of any kind. The cylinder bores are equally as clean and mint. At some point the original factory military grips made of smooth Walnut were replaced with factory original Colt New Service full checkered Walnut grips with the Rampant Colt medallions. These grips while not correct for this military model, fit very nicely and are in excellent shape. The checkering is crisp and sharp, and there are no signs of wear, cracks, or repairs of any kind. Everything on this revolver works 100% like the day it left the factory. Despite the U.S. Military required heavy trigger pull the action is smooth and it locks up tight. At full lock there is zero play in the cylinder. This Colt Model 1917 would be a great addition to any Colt or U.S. Military collection. It would be very hard to upgrade in condition from this one!
