Antique “EXTRA SHARPE PROOF” Converted Pistol
British with Birmingham Proofs & Brass Barrel
Here we present an antique Sharpe Percussion Belt Pistol, originally made as a flintlock, circa the late 1700s in England. This pistol was designed to make massive holes in things, especially in self-defense or war-time. This pistol would have been a horse carried pistol or perhaps even worn on a belt.
This specimen is marked “EXTRA SHARPE PROOF” on the top of the barrel, along with Birmingham proof marks. The lock is also marked “SHARPE”. The gun features a handsome brass barrel. The lock was updated circa 1840 with the new percussion technology of the time, making it more reliable.
The overall condition is very good. The brass barrel has taken a dark patina with time. The markings are deep and clear. The stock has a little chipping and a crack running from the muzzle in the ramrod channel. Otherwise it is solid and sturdy.

The bore is fine and the firing mechanism is strong.
