Description:
SOLD..Excellent antique Merwin & Hulbert revolver. It is in  the .38 caliber that is the same as the .38 S&W black powder caliber. ALL matching S/N 7580 on the frame under the grips, the cylinder and the barrel. The inside of the folding hammer spur has the number 132.. Has the standard  3 1/2" barrel. As you can see it retains most all of the original nickel finish. The barrel has 98% with just a few very small brown specks on the right side at the muzzle. The cylinder has about 85% to 90% with a coupls spots of patina where the nickel has flaked off as you can see. The photo of the cylinder shows the worst spot. The frame has 95% including the front and rear grip straps with just the same few specks where the finish has flaked. NO roughness or pitting anywhere on the gun. The hammer just has traces of case colors. The trigger guard has turned a medium brown patina along with the trigger. The mechanics are excellent in both SA and DA. It locks up tight as new with absolutely no play in the cylinder anywhere. Rock solid barrel to frame fit. The original grips are excellent with NO cracks or chips and still show all the fine checkering with no wear. Perfect original fit.. The left photo I pulled the camera and is a little blurry but they are excellent. The bore is minty bright and shiny and the cylinder chambers are the same but two of them have some very minor roughness but no issues or detracting from the gun at all. Might even clean up a little but nothing bad at all. ALL the markings are excellent with no weak or tillted stampings as is very common on these M&H's. The markings on the hammer spur are crisp and clear also. The screw heads are sharp and crisp and not burred up from tinkering. This is a very nice little M&H for the money. These are very well made, high quality revolvers of the 1870's to 1880's. Way before their time in my opinion and the prices have been going up in the last few years and still are climbing unlike many other popular revolvers of the day. This one is priced faily so don't miss it. Hard to improve on unless you find one in flat out mint condition and you will not buy it for this price I am sure. $20 insured shipping.
