1873 Springfield U.S. Model 1873 Trapdoor rifle, 45-70, 32 5/8 barrel with very good bore conditiion, serial # AL3882. This gun also has other distinct marking as revealed in the photos: VP, and O.R.E. The overall condition of this gun is Very Good. This gun appears to be one of the 22,00 or so of Model 1873 rifles that were rebuilt by Springfield Armory between 1880 and 1883, using the type receivers and some of the original 1873 parts. Then again, this rifle could be all original. I aquired this gun from a neighbor who came down with Alzheimer's and is unalbe to provide the full history. The family tells me that it is all original. This rifle would make a Great addition to any enthusiats collection. This is a true antique.
