Description:

CIVIL WAR Antique Allen & Wheelock Navy Revolver

Only 750 Made Matching with Great Cylinder Scene!

Here we present an antique Allen & Wheelock Sidehammer Navy Percussion Revolver, made circa 1860, in Worcester, Massachusetts. This revolver represents a very rare Civil War handgun, of which only 750 were made in total from 1859-1861. There are several distinctive features that set this revolver apart from others of the same period. One is the signature Allen side-mounted hammer. Another is the cylinder axis pin that inserts into and protrudes out of the back of the frame. Instead of having a ratchet on the back of the cylinder that would assist in the revolving action, this revolver features a circular plate that rotates, turning with it the cylinder. Finally, the loading lever is a pivoting piece of the trigger guard.

The overall condition is very good. The well-preserved cylinder scene features a forested background with four stags, a doe and a sprinting rabbit. The serial numbers match, including the loading lever, grip panels, frame, cylinder axis pin, cylinder, and the rotating cylinder disc. The grips are very good with the serial numbers stamped inside, and the initials “AR”. Interestingly, the barrel was cut down at some point, and a rear sight mounted on the top of the frame. The bore is near fine. The action is strong.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 4-5/8 inches in length.

Caliber: .36 percussion

The bore is near fine and the action is strong.

Overall condition as seen in photos.
