Description:
#1123, Al Biesen Gunmaker Spokane, Wn: A 250-3000 Ackley Improved on a Kurz (K) Short Action Mauser Round Top, This gun was made for the original owner in 1982 to be used on Sitka Blacktail Deer on Kodiak Island in Alaska, The custom order to Biesen certainly showed he had very good taste in a Blacktail rifle to be used where snow is almost a given, 23" barrel without any open sights, The barrel is a Pre-64 Featherweight style and profile, Very neat profiled scope bases set-up in an extension fashion with extension rings, 3 x 9 Leupold, Straddle hinged floorplate with a center bow release, A 3-position Model 70 type wing safety, Four panel teardrop bolt knob checkering, Timney trigger, Jeweled bolt and follower, Action rails inside and out are polished, Checkered bolt stop release, A pure Biesen Custom Classic style stock, Biesen classic full wrap around Fleur-De-Lis checkering with a fairly deep recess, Shadowline cheekpiece on the right side of the stock as the owner is left handed but used right hand bolts as left hand actions were not very common in 1982, Sling eyes on the stock, Ebony forend tip, Biesen fully engraved skeleton grip cap with wood checkering, 13" LOP over a fully engraved skeleton butt, 7 lbs. 7 oz. with the scope, An excellent piece of wood with excellent color and black/brown contrast, The original Biesen blue remains at 98%, The original stock finish at 97%, The checkering is at 99%, The bore as new, The gun is accurate and will produce 1" accuracy and better. The owner will send the buyer his loading dies and bunch of cases. This piece is totally like the day it left the Biesen shop. Mr. Al Biesen is the Norman Rockwell of custom bolt rifles in America and his merits are covered extensively in the pages of Jack O'Connor and the Gun Digest.
